Samsung Note 3

After days of awaiting the release of the Note 3 from Samsung in Singapore, and all that hand-wringing prior to the jump from Apple iOS to Android... I've finally jumped off the Apple ship, and made my way over to Samsung.

I've been a real hater for the Android system for a long time (since 3 years back when I first used an Android phone for about 3 months, and promptly got rid of it...). I don't hate it for no reason. I just found it utterly unintuitive, allows for too much customisation (bane or boon, you decide) and for the most part was unstandardised and didn't have a neat, organized and pretty interface.

I'm a huge fan of standardised and organised stuff. Perhaps that's one reason I enjoy watching k-pop music videos. I'm not so much into "omg that guy is so cute", "yoona so pretty" and stuff like that, but for the most part, I think k-pop has a certain value of art in their music videos and concepts, and I love how each band/artist performs one concept, and returns in 2 to 3 months with another concept. Nothing is static, and it keeps the industry really fresh and interesting.

I clarify, I'm not a k-pop fan girl, but I appreciate the art and effort put into each video and image concept. (Have you seen how crazy some k-pop fanatic netizens are? It's honestly quite frightening.)

Ok back to the Note 3. The phone's great. Colours look great on the phone (though not so much when media is transferred from phone to computer). My experience has been pretty frustrating, mainly because the screen size differs so much from my previous iPhone 5, and within 2 days of using it, my right wrist actually started cramping up... and I'm not even exaggerating. I'm taking way longer to text, because I'm not used to the keyboard line spacing and I keep having really bad non-understandable typos. Boo.

On a brighter note, the Note 3 packs a punch. S Note is pretty awesome (as usual), the S Pen functions are out-of-this-world super great, Scrapbook is really cool (and great for me to collect some recipes from the web). Given room to customise the appearance of my phone feels like a breath of fresh air (even though, not rooting the phone makes it really tedious, and I'm honestly too lazy), so here's how my phone looks after some customisation!

Man I love cityscapes.

You can say I'm a minimalist. :)

All in all, a great phone, with a big-ass screen (great for watching stuff, terrible for privacy)... The best part is that, after my jump to Samsung... Clash of Clans just got on Android. Which means... I can carry on playing the game I enjoy on iOS even after I've jumped ship.

Best. Thing. Ever. #guiltypleasure

P.S. Photo of Note 3's box taken with the Samsung Note 3. Not particularly pleased with the image quality, it's rather pixellated, and I sent it in original HD size so I'm not sure why it's at 72 resolution. Not pleased, not pleased. Anyone knows how to improve photo quality? Please comment!
