Wild Honey at Scotts Square
It was initially a solo brunch date with a girlfriend of mine because she had some things to pass to me... Turns out my school mates decided to appear together and give me a shock (i.e. it was a success haha). I think back and although I feel incredibly appreciative of such sweet friends, I still feel super conned by my friends. Haha.
Technically they didn't lie to me at all. It was one of those times when I didn't really probe. The initial plan was just the two of us, but I did ask whether if we wanted to call two other friends. One said he already had plans, the other we didn't ask because she is busy daily due to her part-time job. So that was that.
So when I saw them at our table... I was so shocked my thoughts were scattered all over the place, so well, I didn't say anything. But in hindsight, aww, every day's been a blessing since I've met these people in school. They'd definitely made my school duration a lot more fun, and a lot more engaging.
"English" - Scrambled eggs, back bacon, Cumberland pork sausage, sautéed mushrooms, Dad’s baked beans, breakfast potatoes, grilled vine ripened tomato & signature brioche
"Canadian" - Classic stack of three old fashioned pancakes served with Canadian back bacon, wild forest berry compote & imported Canadian maple syrup.
It's been a while since I have had Wild Honey and so far it never disappoints. The "Norwegian" dish was my favourite and the yummiest, so I would say it's a must-try if you're a salmon lover. The poached eggs were great for me. I'm not particular about the poached eggs if they're decently cooked (i.e. no jelly-like colourless egg parts) and don't smell so don't trust my opinion. Haha.
Flanked by these coincidentally-similarly-dressed bodyguards, haha.
After an indulgent brunch/lunch, we moved on to enjoy some dessert at Paris Baguette Cafe.
Pretty happy to have tried this pudding that my friends have been talking about. Unfortunately it comes with a price tag of S$4.00 so I definitely will not be having it again. To be frank, it tastes just like melted vanilla ice cream with caramel syrup. So don't expect to be blown off your feet. It might really be just that. Haha.
I love this cake, but I forgot the name. It's a cheese cake but not the standard New York cheese cake. The thin sponge layers inside have just the right amount of cheese-to-cake ratio and it's quite reasonably sweet and not so sweet that it's sore-throat-inducing. Good to share this since it can be too "heavy" for one person to eat it all.
Tony (below) always takes photos non-stop so that he catches us in our unglamorous pre-photo poses. I'm putting this up because even though he annoys us extensively, he's a really good friend of ours, and haha, we do look quite silly.
So, thanks for the surprise! I was super touched, and I also had a great time catching up with you guys. Ha, in addition, meeting you guys always means great food hahaha.
Grunt, grunt, snort, snort.
