Hair.

Believe me when I say that when I woke up yesterday and walked past the mirror, I got shocked and immediately the thought "Where did my hair go?!" popped into my mind. Haha, talk about morning blurness - always happens.

I just wanted to say that I am officially back in love with the salon I used to go to when I was 15-19 years old! So, I've actually cut a variety of bobs from the age 15-19 (when bobs just started being the 'in' thing of sorts) from like some A-line bob, to the straight bob, to the Rihanna bob (picture below), and other name-less bob styles which I can't remember the name of. If you search "Rihanna bob" you'd actually get a massive load of different bob styles cos Rihanna has that much hair and her hair grows at the speed of light such that she can keep changing bob styles. -_- Haha.

Unfortunately for me, my hair only grows half as fast as hers. So nope, not able to be that adventurous. So anyway, the shortest bob style I cut was modeled after Rihanna's bob. Instant love the moment I saw it so I took her picture with my phone, went to the hairdresser (this amazing salon which can replicate any style, seriously) and said "I want this, but adapt it to my hair type, face shape and blabla" and they did it!

This is the delightful bob style which I think she pulls off the best (amongst all the bobs she cut).

Anyway, my hairdresser was a really young boy, possibly my age or perhaps 23/24 years old - he looks like an 18-year-old believe me! Nothing he said was reassuring while cutting my hair. In fact, up until now, I still can't get around his very unassuring comments. I don't know whether he was trying to make me expect something bad and then give me something so good and blow my socks off or what. Cheryl accompanied me to the hairdresser's (I actually suddenly sprang the idea on her, since we had run out of things to do after having dimsum and shopping for a long time) and even Cheryl was taken aback at what he was saying.

Here's our conversation in Mandarin.
Me: I want to cut short, above shoulder length, same hairstyle but basically just really short.
Hairdresser ('H' for short): *staring at the back of my head* Mmm.
H: Ehhh... Hmm. (This went on for about 4 minutes which is really long when I am looking at him expectantly.)
Me: Are you confident?
H: Er. Okay you take a look at the hairstyle magazine ok, then you tell me what you want, using the pictures, I'm gonna go to the toilet. Fast one! 5 minutes, give me 5 minutes ok? *literally sprinted out of the shop*
Cheryl and I share a strange look and laughed. He's actually really cute (not in a handsome way but in a childlike impish way) that he could shave you bald and totally get away with it. Ok maybe not bald.
Mr. Hairdresser comes back.
H: Good to go?
Me: Like this for the back, like this for the fringe, like this for the length *pointing to pictures*.
H: *looking at head again*
Me: Ok? Good? Confident?
H: No. Actually everyone whose hair was cut by me always say that their hair is ugly.
Me (in my head): Um why would you tell me that?
Anyway I trusted his impish baby face and let him cut my hair... really because I had no alternative choice haha, everyone else was busy.

To cut the long story short, he actually did a really good job! In between the cut, his boss was actually staring at my head, and watching him cut my hair, which made me really stressed because I think my hairdresser looked like he was doing something wrong, and the boss (some really pro hairstylist, seriously) looked pretty pensive and almost disapproving. Haha.

Anyway, you know how after you cut your hair shorter than usual (fringe or hair at the back), you often look suddenly 'bald' and stupid for the next few days. I actually looked decent enough to go out and didn't have to rush home immediately after the haircut so I was pretty thankful for that.

Hahaha I give him a 9/10 for his great cut, perfect honesty and sense of humour. Lol.

Ah, I'm gonna go back to this salon to get my hair trimmed. Great place, and great price for students. Perhaps I'll even do my treatment here next time.

Some pictures of my nameless short bob, cut when I was 18... aka Rihanna bob:

Here's a beautiful shot taken by my photographer friend, Jamin when we were at the Botanic Gardens, shooting flowers and nature. My hair looks especially nice here!

So there! Man... I love experimenting with hairstyles.
