Wednesday:
Dimsum at ION Orchard's Luk Yu Tea House (inside the basement's Food Opera). Picking such a place to eat dimsum may come across as a mistake since ION Orchard has some other good dimsum places like Taste Paradise and Imperial Treasure.
Well, it wasn't all that bad. There were good moments, and some terribly bad ones. I'm so glad we didn't order too many dishes though! Service was terrible and we got the feeling that the two servers really hated the two of us girls. (They refused us four-seater seats because we were only 2 people, while every other person in the seating area were only 2 people and had 4-seaters. -.- When I stated that everyone around us was a duo in a 4-seater, she said we came the latest. To my observation, there were still 4 four-seater seats available. In fact, the whole seating area didn't really have that many two-seaters in the first place.) The waitress also took the whole time of staring at me throughout my dimsum lunch of sorts, making me feel really irritated. I mean, she already gave me a crappy seat next to the exit in a semi-empty seating area.. Never mind that she did everything with a scowl on her face.
So anyway it was me being adventurous deciding to try this out since my friend said it was alright.
So-so Char Siew Sou/BBQ Honey Glazed Pork Pastry. The meat was succulent and pretty good, but the pastry was pretty average... almost bad.
Chee Cheong Fun (Pork rice roll) and Xiao Long Bao. Worst mistake was the Xiao Long Bao. What is xiao long bao without soup within? A wanton or a meatball, you tell me?! $4 for 3 un-Xiao-Long-Baos, quite pricey indeed.
Anyway, the custard bun (流沙包) saves the day. This pandan custard bun was quite delicious. It was pretty weird at first tasting the custard and having that heavy pandan smell entering your nose at the same time, but after that initial taste, the bun was really quite nice and quite the day-saver.
Everything was pretty average except for the custard bun (excellent) and the horrible soupless Xiao Long Bao. Haha.
Total Damage: $20.50 for 2 pax.
Really cheap compared to the last 2 times I went for Dimsum where JS and I spent a total of $40, $50+ and $68 for 2 pax too. Haha. But well, those were like 8 to 10 upon 10 type of dimsum haha. You pay for what you get, really.
Anyway, this has completely nothing to do with the new year but here, we see that I am lying on the floor face-down:
Okay, I'm just kidding. I'm not lying down there with the hairstylist kicking my head.
Got a haircut snipping off about 20cm of my hair because it was too damaged and really too troublesome. My hair was so long, it kept getting hooked in my bag straps, clipped between my zippers and because of that, my hair kept splitting and getting really damaged cos it was just hooking on everything and breaking. -.-
Enough to make a wig!
Ending off my post with the outfit of the day (with long hair)!
My new Pull & Bear bright blue denim jeggings, mustard suede pointy pumps, Mango cream tote bag and my couple Fossil watch. I love simple looks like these.
Look forward to pictures of my new mushroom hair! Gotta love how light and bouncy I feel now.
