Turning 23

A simple birthday celebration this year with a cosy take-out dinner at my sister's place, korean BBQ and a movie. I love quiet birthdays like these!

Lunch at 8 Korean Barbecue

Meats (left to right) in Original, Ginseng, Garlic, Herb flavours. 8 Korean BBQ specialises in samgyeopsal (thick, fatty slices of uncured pork belly meat) and is delightfully sinful and yummy! I'm a big fan of all meaty and fatty food so along with the fried kimchi, the meal was... very enjoyable indeed. Slurp.

A seafood stew with all sorts of seafood in it. The clams and mussels were really fresh and yummy. Not much of a seafood fan, but fresh seafood always tastes good. The soup was addictive - mildly spicy and sweet at the same time, both of us nearly emptied the pot!

Not sure if it's the oily environment or the darkness, but my camera had a hard time focusing! I hurriedly snapped some pictures and kept my (slightly damaged LCD screen) camera away. Oil on camera lenses is never a good thing. So I apologise in advance for the slightly blurry photos!

A downside of the very open pan is that the oil is splattering everywhere (don't wear white!), a lot of it got on my arms, plates, utensils and the table was spotted with oil marks. But with that said, only with an open pan does it really feel like authentic korean BBQ haha...

Seafood pancake that he absolutely loves and can't stop raving about... The seafood taste was too strong for my liking - I know it's a seafood pancake... but it felt like I was eating while submerged in a fish-tank. So... haha no thanks.

 Fried kimchi is the best...

Watched A Movie

Caught X-Men: Days of Future Past at The Cathay after the filling meaty lunch. It's a pretty awesome movie with the story focused on Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). If you're a fan of Lawrence or Jackman, it's surely a must-watch! There's a bunch of fascinating new characters and awesome CGI - I especially love the ice dude and metal dude's CGI. The accuracy of detail is just... too accurate. Seems like there's nothing you can't do with technology now!

Tea/Dinner at Tim Ho Wan

Haha, as you can see, I was more concerned with taking photos of us rather than of dim sum. Haha. (He's also so dark after coming back from Phuket!)

His Gifts

I love the ring so much! Call me old-fashioned but I'm quite attracted to rings with gold detail. For one, it always stands out, since everyone likes silver rings... Haha. My sister says it's so olden day style and ah ma, but sorry I LOVE IT HAHA. Been wearing girly outfits so I can wear it out the past few days.

Handmade Birkin Bag Birthday Card!

Card with the ring. Photo from Instagram (above) so it's grainy and blurry!

Early Birthday Celebration: Chinese Take-Out with the Family

Touched! My busy sister baked me a Almond Butter birthday cake. Aww I really appreciate the time and effort put in... She recently just started baking, so this yummy cake is quite an achievement! Haha looking at that pre-cut-cake photo - she did me the honour of cutting my cake before I could in order to check if it was baked through lol... Still, it's the thought that counts. :) (There's my cute niece too!)

Cake-cutting! There's my "Best. Birthday. Ever" face.

Here (and from now on), my yearly birthday cake-cutting and candle-blowing rights... revoked. The situation: My twin-niece-and-nephew (born on the 20th of May) think that it's their birthday and are attempting to blow out the candles (or spit on the cake haha) throughout the birthday song... Hahaha.

Summing up, I'm exceedingly grateful and thankful to those who have wished me! Apologies for the "blocked Facebook wall". Until today, I never knew I blocked people from writing on my wall. Anyway Facebook messages are a lot more sincere (compared to wall posts)!

With love and more - signing off to find food, bye!
