Adam Levine - Lost Stars (Cover)

It's Deepavali in Singapore!

Here's a raw piano acoustic cover of "Lost Stars" from the movie Begin Again, starring Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo (more famously known for playing The Hulk in the recent Marvel movies).



Advance apologies for the sound dynamics (i.e. loud piano vs. rather soft voice). A full improvised piano arrangement filmed using my Nikon compact camera.

It's not much, but I hope you like it! :)

An experimental cover of a song from one of my all-time favourite album featuring 3+3 parts layers of Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' with the instrumental. The highlight of this cover is from 2:58 onwards!

As much as I enjoy full-voice tracks, nothing can truly replicate this awesome classical arrangement, and I very much wanted to keep the essence of the song.

[Audio] Coldplay - Magic (Cover)

Ending off the month of March with a cover of Coldplay's 'Magic'.



Still rather shocked that Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow are splitting up, since I'd always thought they were one of the more stable "less-drama" marriages. I'm not a follower of celebrity 'gossip' but with regard to this, I did feel a bit sad. I'm pretty sure she inspired some of Coldplay's songs and lyrics, which makes it such a shame because Coldplay has had many moving, heartfelt tracks on love, loss and a whole lot of other subject matter.

Well, I hope you enjoy this really clean version of my current favourite song to relax to.

Singing at the Hard Rock Cafe

So, my debut at the Hard Rock Cafe. 

Firstly, my heart's full and welled up with gratefulness for the opportunity and the amount of faith in me by the guys of Suasion, for allowing me to feature in some songs of their set list after meeting me once (twice for the lead singer). It started off with a really spontaneous jam session with the very-talented lead singer, and one thing led to another, and here I went. Something sort of a live trial.     

I love singing, but most specifically adding dimension, heart and groove through the use of harmonies. With the guys of Suasion, we got to experiment with three-part harmonies together, and it felt really, really good to team up and harmonise with another harmoniser and singer and hear it all blend and mash together.

I've been doing mostly acapella vocal arrangements for years, singing every improvised part from bass, alto, tenor, soprano, percussion (I still can't beatbox though haha) and layering my voice with three up to twelve tracks by myself. It's fun and sure makes me happy, but it gets boring and lonely too, haha. So... it's just awesome that I get to sing with like-minded others this time to create the same harmonious effect. Also, the different textures of each voice tone adds such a refreshing touch to the art I enjoy.

It's October! A new upload of Ed Sheeran's song.

Discovered Ed Sheeran last week (yes I know, so slow right?) and I've been enjoying his unique rapping and album, mashed with his acoustic sets. Pretty interesting style, and also slightly similar yet different compared with Jason Mraz's rap style.

Jukebox the Ghost - Somebody

Current feel-good song.

The starting scene featuring the metal structure, looks a lot like Singapore's Gardens by the Bay's iconic tree structure. Perhaps we now know the inspiration behind Gardens by the Bay?

Loving the imagery of clear skies, and perfectly relaxed dancers having a good time. Feel-good, feel-good.

Two Door Cinema Club Live.

Best $130 spent. Ever.

I still remember getting these tickets booked on the day that ticket booking opened. I think we got our tickets at end of Oct or November 2012 haha! Anyway, we had the best seats ever haha in my opinion - because we worked hard to get those seats (haha, if you know what I mean).

Mad awesome live stuff, they're really perfect live (other than the one or two songs where the bassist went slightly out of tune - again, since it happened in another live concert overseas). The crowd was insane, cheering like mad. The Esplanade sound system was not too bad and the general sound and lighting was pretty well coordinated.

All in all, I loved it so much! The atmosphere, the experience and the like-mindedness of all singing along to every song - the feeling of feeling so at home - totally addictive - and I left, thinking I so wanna go see Foster the People the next time they're in Singapore.

With that said, every song on TDCC's two albums, Tourist History and Beacon, is really good. So do check them out!

Gotta love bands that can perform flawlessly live.

Christmas, Almost Here.

Christmas, always brings around bright lights, beautiful decorations, christmas trees in all parts of town. 

Since Christmas is here, it is standard operating procedure for me to do at least one christmas song acapella. So here's Jingle Bell Rock, something I did a week ago. Enjoy!

Alt J - Something Good

There is something so beautiful about this music video, I especially love the multiple perspectives. Alt-J, up and rising I hear. This song is really not bad, it does grow on you.
