The Budget Outfit
Mustard and khaki. Not my favourite colours on the spectrum, but Sunday felt like a day to experiment with it! Besides, I really wanted to wear this new mustard pair of shorts I bought 9 months back from Bangkok.
So here's Sunday's outfit - Proof that you don't have to spend a bomb (all the time) to put together a presentable look. My shorts cost S$4 (100 baht) from Bangkok, while the blazer and tank top cost S$25 and S$5 respectively.
There, outfit damage totals S$34 - that price can't even get you a pair of jeans at Zara!
Accessories cost a lot more: Bag's from Zara and the suede tassel flats are from Steve Madden. Those cost a bomb compared to the above items, but a good handbag, and a good pair of flats will certainly take you far! To put it flatly, a proper bag, and a proper pair of quality shoes will cause you less discomfort, last much longer, and function better at its purpose (i.e. carrying heavy stuff, walking mileage) in the long run. However, branded shoes and bags are not a necessity, especially if you're a student, like me.
Moral of the story: Look past the mindset that fashion and style is only for people with lots of money to spend. You can always find a good buy somewhere if you open your eyes a little bigger and go out and experience life a bit more!

Peplums & Record-Breaking Weight
I hope peplum tops never go out of fashion! They are such effortless pieces... They look quite dressy and semi-formal on their own, so I never look too under-dressed even if paired with jeans and flats. Also, I can get past the whole day without sucking in my tummy (hahaha). Really helps for me at this period since I've put on 4kg since I weighed myself a few months back.
I'm currently at a record-breaking heaviest weight ever, and after the semester ends, I'll try to work on losing off the 4kg I gained over the last few months. Keyword "try". It's difficult for me to get into a whole running or exercising routine, since I spend most of my days out. And most days I'm just horrifically lazy. Hopefully with the examination break, I'll have more home-time on my hands for exhausting tasks like exercising. Hmm.
The outfit also features my new bag! I loved the design so much I got two colours. One in this vivid maroon, and one in jet black. So much awesome.
The examination break, and holidays are coming. This time, for the first time in a long while, I won't be spending my entire holiday at a desk job. Decided that it was high-time for me to take a full-on pure-holiday rest with no stress and nothing to think about at all... I do foresee I'm going to be bored to tears... Haha.
2 more submissions and 3 more days of school to go. I can do it, I think.

Outage Outrage?
I'm finally back!
The last 7 days without the Internet have been miserable. It was so inconvenient to access my school files, and play my favourite games on my phone, and search for and watch Youtube videos. The cause: My house was supposedly struck by lightning, there was a black-out & after we turned the power back on, we discovered that both our StarHub TV & Modem Transformers (the black plug) were blown and can't be used anymore... Because the dear TV and Internet spoilt on a Saturday, we had to wait until Monday to get the TV transformer replaced, and Thursday to get the Internet transformer fixed.
Sigh, how reliant I am on the Internet. Days certainly felt longer!
Last Friday's Outfit of the Day: Military Trench Coat paired with a white tank, high waist dress shorts, penny loafers in Burgundy from G. H. Bass.
I love the cut and fit of this trench-inspired coat. Though coats/jackets (honestly the fabric felt more like a coat than jacket) are hardly practical for Singapore's weather, I love them for the ability to make a sloppy looking outfit look much smarter.
Also, fortunately for me, I always feel cold in air-conditioned places (I'm not such a sun person, so I avoid it when I can, which means I try my best to be in air-conditioned places as much as possible). Coats, jackets and blazers? My best friends, always. Even my thickest cardigans don't keep me warm. Meh.
Any health remedies to suggest with regard to one feeling cold easily?

Days of Navy
Yesterday's outfit:
Aiming for a formal look made more relaxed by sneakers.
Pull & Bear Blazer, Zara Trafaluc Acid Wash Jeans, basic tank & Converse high-cut sneakers.
I love how my jeans have a different texture and fabric when folded up. And I personally love blazers in general because they make any outfit look much smarter.
My shoulders are pretty broad for my size, so I tend to like wearing blazers. The trouble with broad shoulders is that there are many things you can't wear, you'd end up looking boyish and un-lady-like. E.g. Petite-cut dresses that tend to cut in around the shoulders - From personal experience, I often look like I'm bursting out of the dress at the top section - and it's not because my boobs are too large (for they are absolutely not close to that description).
Blazers/Outerwear are not for everyone though. So, know your body type before you invest in them. They're definitely not as cheap as other tops!

Valentines' Day 2013

♥ ♥ ♥
A simple summary of how last night went.
So the spelling nazi misspelt something hahaha.
He's actually not-so-recently attained the nickname of "Market Spoiler" as you can see from the comments. Haha. I'm not being mean, because I am completely convinced he is out to outdo others - which basically means I reap some, if not all of the benefits of that obsession hahaha.
He put together 14 days worth of a Valentines' Day Lookbook for me because I love browsing beautiful consumer goods and appreciating marketing ploys and well-executed advertisements.
Just a sneak peek at 14 Feb's lookbook 'entry'. It's the clutch he gave me, along with the Tiffany & Co blue box and its contents. The reason why he got me the blue box was because we once discussed the idea of the "blue box" - in the discussion I said, "Every girl gets a blue box at least once in her lifetime. It's a supposed rite of passage." (Disclaimer: Western context)
To be frank, I don't quite care about or indulge in branded brands. (i.e. Kate Spade, Coach, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, Agnes B, Cartier, Pandora). One or two good quality items is enough for me. My motivation for getting branded stuff mostly stems from... quality and not so much that the brand should reflect my personality.
Ok but back to the topic, I honestly said that statement... with
1. no intention of hinting to him that I wanted one.
2. my typical honest and direct answer towards such questions (I have a certain belief system of how the world works even though I don't necessarily conform to it.)
We talked about that after a romantic-comedy movie... Who takes such random talk seriously?
Well, anyway I got it - so maybe girls who do aspire to own one or many Tiffany products, go ahead and try that line. Hahaha!
Florescent pink beats red anytime. The wonder of dyed flowers is that they die in that colour and do not turn black like red roses do. (My previous blue roses, though now dead, are not particularly wilted and are still a nice turquoise blue, how pretty!)
I have armpit fat too. I am so happy, I don't care and I am still posting this photo haha.
My eyelids look really defined here.
Awesome bread as usual.
Had our appetisers changed as we can't take oysters - so we had this tuna dish and salad. This tuna looks and tastes like a fatty beef steak. It's like toasty on the outside, and slightly uncooked on the inside (deliberate). It was like a tuna sashimi that tasted like beef. Too refreshing on the mouth!
This looks like vomit but it's super appetising. Really opens up your tummy to receive more food! I would say it's a thinner version of the chinese fish glue (Coca Restaurant serves it!) but of course, way nicer.
Amazing stuff, my first time having foie gras and I now declare that it's so good I can eat it everyday hahaha. It feels like the piece of fat connected to the beef steak! (I understand my comparisons mainly allude to the cow and beef, but I extremely love beef steaks and would say I'm an ultimate carnivore!)
Some crazy fresh trout. The fish was so good that JS had to be so completely anti-climatic and google an image of the real fish.
JS: "Eh, this is what we're eating now!"
Me: -_-
JS: "Why can't they just serve us the whole fish instead of this small fraction of it?"
Back to the REAL food pictures.
Awesome beef tenderloin and potato mash! Our last dish before the dear dessert came...
Bringing to you, the awfully sweet looking (and tasting) dessert...
JS: "*gasp* The dessert is too pretty, can I not eat it and bring it home?"
Pardon me, but this sounds like it's supposed to be said by the girl. Haha.
My reply... "But you paid to eat it..."
HAHA.
The counter staff took this and she officially won the worst photographer award... This is the second shot she took (the first one is a shaky shot -_-). Haha. There's us with our complimentary balloon, complimentary parking coupon and a complimentary lovey-dovey themed muffin. They also gave us a complimentary instax, taken for us!
Everyone loves free stuff!!!
Balloons! They bothered with many decorations.
Before I could take a nice photo of it, I smashed the muffin trying to juggle my tote, the balloon, the muffin and my mobile phone. -_- The muffin was really good!
To end off, two photos from my Instagram. For those who haven't already followed me, go follow my instagram at @lxuisa! ;)
I hope all of you have had an awesome day, with friends, family or your partners. If your boyfriend or girlfriend doesn't spend heaps of money on you on this particular day... it doesn't mean that they love you any less. Love languages! Know yours and your partner's today...
It is better to have a partner who treats you well on a daily basis, than a partner who only lavishes nice things, words, dinners, flowers on two days of a year. (Valentines' Day and your birthday). ;)
♥ ♥ ♥
Finally, my outfit of the day.
Peplum Bustier Top in Cream (Served no boosting purposes whatsoever haha), floral jeans, penny loafers from G. H. Bass, Mango bag, paired with red lips. A pretty unlike-me outfit, but I wanted to be slightly different on V. Day and go for something non-skirt and non-dress. :)

Pyjama Friday
I fully understand now... why some girls totally dress in sleepwear-worthy outfits - real big shirts, some washed-out cotton shorts, paired with a shapeless canvas tote and slippers (havaianas, on a good day).
I'm not quite a big fan of "lazy outfits" such as those described above. I suppose, it's really because I can't pull it off myself. Haha. I think I generally look bad in loose clothes - I feel sloppy, I feel grossly and especially flat-chested, the list goes on. I also feel disrespectful to the person I'm meeting. Somehow I feel that dressing sloppily to meet a friend just shows how you really can't be bothered about that friend's feelings.
ANYWAY, for those who can pull off such outfits, good for you haha. I shall sulk and be sore by myself. Haha.
Today's pyjama-style outfit:
Lazy relax fit dip hem top, loose fit skinny jeans, Converse high cut sneakers in navy.
Another shot on the escalator, with some seriously messed up laces.
It was incredibly comfy and such fun to hop about with no worries about messing up my hair or getting wedgies or painful feet or exposed cleavage or something. There's always something to worry about in a girly outfit, and this outfit is completely worry-free. I completely understand now why some girls can dress like this all the time: loose top, pants, sneakers. Perfect outfit for studying too, the pants and long sleeves sure kept me snuggly warm!

P.S. Btw, the Converse high cut sneakers are new! :)
