You know how I feel about Valentine's Day being a pissing contest for ladies, and on that note, I'm actually highly reluctant to share what we did this year. We kind of commemorated the day twice, on the 12th and on the 14th of Feb (twice purely because I had school all day on the 14th).
So here's part 1 (12 Feb). All I can say is, for the fourth year, he's done it again. For those who don't know what the extent his romantic tendencies can go to, here's last year's Valentine's Day: HERE. I realise I didn't blog about 2012 (Photoshoot!) and 2011, but they were equally awesome in so many ways and I appreciate all the effort in orchestrating a highly detailed day plan.
Anyway, we felt the need to be a little bit more prudent and economical this year so we went for the lunch buffet at The Line. JS loves buffets, whereas I never ever find myself a worthy buffet eater since I always pay so much and eat so little. Haha. Turns out we didn't really like The Line's buffet offerings, so we're really thankful we simply went for the lunch.
Lunch at The Line, Shangri-La Hotel
The laksa was incredible. We tried to get a second bowl but were too full to stuff ourselves any further.
The salmon sashimi was really fresh and really good even though they came in big clumps (above). They also had a weird system of distributing the salmon sashimi which came across a little bit "cheap" and gross. The chef cuts the sashimi, puts it on the room-temperature plate atop the counter and lets all the buffet patrons grab at the displayed sashimi with metal tongs. It seriously just unleashes the inner unruly Singaporean in every patron and it's almost hilarious and unhygienic at the same time. (Exposing the sashimi to the room temperature air?)
Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay
These pair of heels left me with two giant blisters on the base on my feet, and I had difficulty walking the next two days. The extent women go for vanity, I know right.
Couldn't help being jittery around these.
No prizes for what this possibly looks like. Thanks but no thanks for informing me, JS, hahaha.
Probably a seasonal section where they change the installation a few times a year, they were having their Chinese New Year decorations then and the most vibrant colours in the dome! The prettiest section to photograph, I must say.
Ending off the post with these awesome "floating" horses. Completely seamless display. The right horse's supported by this log-like structure (brown patch below the horse).
That sums up our 12th of February! Man-made in so many ways, but the Gardens by the Bay is so wondrously pretty any time of the day. Definitely a great place to take a walk when you're feeling a little low.
