First, we had our tickets checked, then someone helped us put on winter coats and then we were pushed into a freezer door. On entry, we thought "Man, this is pretty okay (temperature)" and after ten minutes, we were fooling around, taking off our gloves and touching all the ice (which I might add felt like cold acrylic, and not the icy texture I was expecting).
Then came the freezing wind from the high-level air-conditioner, and then we felt our horribly numb fingers and painful face... Then came the regret for touching the ice with our bare hands because now our fingers hurt. -_-
Opening the exhibition is a very stumpy/lumpy looking Sir Stamford Raffles... Hahahahaha.
This one's pretty amazing. Beautiful colours.
This sculpture was the only one that came with flashing disco LED lights...
A stunted version of The Big Ben.
Hard to capture good photos in the freezer we were in. My camera kept freezing up and going crazy, having blurred lenses, and non-functional buttons occasionally, and sudden low-battery signal. Bring your cameras at your own risk! (Another visitor complained that her iPhone camera could not focus, so she couldn't take any pictures throughout... What a shame!)
The best part of the exhibition is the ice slide! Ridiculously slippery, just getting up (and missing a step) is sure to land you sliding down the slide at top speed (Imagine that :O). The level of slippery is really quite horrifying. It's ten times the effect of soapy water on the bathroom floor, even in my boots! I think most people, including myself, slipped while trying to get on the slide. Everyone was so out of their element, it was quite funny. Fingers all tense and numb at the same time, and smoky breaths out of your mouth, you'd never imagine this ever happening in Singapore.
The ice slide was fun, just that my jeans got wet from sliding down the slide. The females' (red) winter coat is a lot shorter than the guys' one (and both of us are about the same height), so yes, my coat rode up and got my jeans wet a few times throughout the exhibition. -_- A note of caution to girls above 166cm, get the blue coat because it's much longer!
There, a glorious moment of me slipping on the ice caught on camera. Hahaha.
Thank goodness for photogenic winter coats, red for the ladies and blue for the guys!
Couldn't balance and had to take this a few times because I kept slipping off the ice...
This particular sculpture of the Beijing's Nine Dragon Wall is especially accurate and pretty! The details!
Had a good time laughing at this dinosaur. What's with the pose?
Ending off the post with my reddened nose and bloated face. The short duration of super cold temperatures left my skin feeling super radiant yet dried up at the same time (and the awful feeling that your cheeks are gonna crack), and my lips felt extra pouty and plump!
Made a mental note to never visit any countries during their winter seasons... I'm pretty clear I don't ever want to be in this kind of weather for a prolonged period of time. (The lowest temperature I've ever experienced overseas is about a 15 degrees celsius in Melbourne/Brisbane, Australia and that already felt awful...)
Running since 20 Nov 2013, until the 15th of May 2014, go visit the Ice Art Exhibition if you feel like freezing yourself up in this 365-day-summer. My coldness tolerance of shopping malls air-conditioning has certainly levelled up after this experience. ;)
